WeGO Executive Committee Meeting-2016 in Beyoglu, Turkey.

       

     successfully completed the WeGO Executive Committee (EXCOM) Meeting 2016 in Beyoglu, Turkey which hosted around 50 officials representing 8 EXCOM Members, 9 Observer Cities, and 2 Observer Institutions in total.

     The three-day event kicked off with a press conference, where the Smart Beyoglu project was officially launched and was followed by the EXCOM Meeting session. At the session, the Executive Committee and observers made important decisions on key WeGO agenda and shared their vision for strategic growth of WeGO as a pioneering organization in ICT, e-Governance, and Smart Cities. Particularly, they discussed the reformulation of the current WeGO mission statement, the dates of the 4th WeGO General Assembly 2017, and the WeGO Smart Sustainable City Awards, among others. On Day 2, the sessions on Public-Private Partnerships for Smart City Projects and Best Practice Sharing: From Citizen Participation to Citizen Empowerment provided an open platform for knowledge sharing and provoked profound discussions engaging presenters and the audience on the given topics. The technical tour following the sessions included visits to the Bahcesehir University, the WeGO Award-winning Social Market, and Beyoglu Municipality. The last day was dedicated to a cultural tour.
